Bella’s mum was unable to care for her, so she was moved to the care of her aunt Diane. Diane discovered that five-year-old Bella was extremely shy and fearful. She wouldn’t join in play time and didn’t like trying out new things. She was also isolated at school, preferring to sit alone in the corner. Over many weeks Family Works social worker Faye used art and play to help Bella find ways to express herself without feeling self-conscious.
Her confidence began to grow and now Bella is blooming in school. She loves being with other children and volunteers for activities, excitedly sharing her news with her aunt when she gets home each day after school.
