Children who grow up with parents equipped with the skills to be effective parents are less likely to have negative social and health outcomes in later life.

The programme helps with:

  • Developing parenting confidence
    communicating clear expectations to
    children

  • Maintaining supportive whānau
    relationships
  • Strengthening sense of whanaungatanga
    (connection)
  • Learning coping strategies for parenting
    stress
  • Getting support to communicate with
    children
  • Strengthen relationships
  • Creating an Individual Support Plan
    catered to specific parenting needs
  • Learning about other local support agencies

  • Introduction, foundations for successful parenting
  • Modelling behaviour, "how to play with your child"
  • Parenting styles
  • Positive attention, encouragement,praise and rewards
  • Ages and stages of development
  • The teenage brain
  • Tree of life, key messages, celebration

Location: Pihanga Room REAP Central Plateau, 73 Titiraupenga Street, Taupo

Programme runs on:

Monday, 20th April 2026, 9:30am - 2:30pm (session 1-2)

Tuesday, 21st April 2026, 9:30am - 2:30pm (session 3-4) 

Thursday, 23rd April 2026, 9:30am - 2:30pm (session 5-6)

Friday, 24th April 2026, 9:30am - 12:30pm (session 7 & celebration)
